- Full Mouth Series of DIGITAL Radiographs: A comprehensive series of “X rays” includes cavity detecting and periapical films which show the doctor each tooth in its entirety, often from several perspectives. For those who “don’t like X rays” our state of the art digital system uses 20-25% of the radiation as that of conventional dental X ray equipment. Because it is possible to enlarge each image on the computer monitor in each operatory, the patient can view them and discuss the findings with the doctor during the visit. This technology makes diagnosing dental disease more accurate and engages the patient in the exam and treatment plan.
- Periodontal Screening: A full mouth probing exam is performed in an effort to determine each patient’s periodontal (gum and bone) status. Pockets, if present, are discussed with the patient as well as bleeding, mobility (looseness), recession, and abnormal wearing of the biting surfaces.
- Oral Cancer Screening: A thorough examination of the soft tissues of the mouth which do not immediately surround the teeth is done and any existing remarkable findings are recorded.
- Documentation of Dental Decay: Any areas of new and recurrent decay are noted and any missing teeth.
- Treatment Plan: Once the doctor and patient have reviewed the findings of the examinations and discussed the patient’s goals and the doctor’s prescribed priorities, a treatment plan is presented to the patient. This includes an estimate of fees. Our team is available to answer questions about appointments and review any insurance questions patients may have.
